Brass Balls

Ball Bearing

Non-Magnetic, Corrosion-Resistant, and Visually Appealing

Brass balls from Atlas Ball & Bearing are manufactured from high-quality CuZn37 (CW508L / CZ108) material — also known as common brass. They combine excellent corrosion resistance, good strength, and a bright, attractive finish, making them ideal for both functional and decorative applications.

Used widely across plumbing, electrical, and marine sectors, brass offers an excellent balance between machinability, durability, and visual appeal.

Key Benefits

  • Good corrosion resistance in air and fresh water environments.
  • Non-magnetic, ideal for sensitive or electrical assemblies
  • Excellent machinability — easy to polish, drill, or plate
  • Attractive appearance for decorative and architectural use
  • Good thermal and electrical conductivity
  • Cost-effective compared to other non-ferrous materials

Typical Applications

Brass balls are a preferred choice where aesthetics, non-magnetism, and corrosion resistance are key. Common applications include:

  • Non-return and check valves

  • Plumbing and heating fittings

  • Electrical conductors and connectors

  • Marine hardware (where appropriate alloys are selected)

  • Decorative architectural components

  • Precision instruments and non-ferrous mechanisms

Useful terms and definitions

Batch or Lot:

A defined quantity of balls manufactured under conditions presumed to be uniform and which is considered an entity.

Nominal Ball Diameter:

The diameter value that is used for the general identification of a ball size.

Single Ball Diameter:

The distance between two parallel planes tangential to the actual ball surface.

Diameter Tolerance per Batch:

The allowed difference between the smallest measured ball diameter and the largest ball diameter within the same batch or lot quantity.

Sphericity:

A measure of roundness expressed as the difference between the measured roundness of a ball and a theoretically perfectly round ball.

Surface Finish or Roughness:

A measure of the texture of a surface. It is quantified by the vertical deviations of the actual surface from its ideal form. If these deviations are large, the surface is rough; if they are small, the surface is smooth.
