Chrome & Carbon Steel Balls
- Reliable, Cost-Effective and Durable
Chrome Steel
(High Carbon Chromium Steel – AISI 52100)
The industry standard for precision bearing balls. High hardness, excellent wear resistance, and good fatigue life. Used in ball bearings, automotive components, and industrial machinery.
Carbon Steel
(General Purpose)
Cost-effective material for low-precision or low-load applications. Often used in toys, casters, and light-duty bearings.
Carbon Steel (1085)
A high-carbon steel with better wear and strength properties than general-purpose carbon steel. Suitable for moderate-load applications in machinery and hardware.
Carbon Steel (Soft)
Annealed carbon steel offering excellent machinability and ductility. Commonly used where post-processing or forming is required.
High-Speed & Tool Steel Balls
- Extreme Hardness for Cutting and Impact Applications
AISI M2
Molybdenum-based high-speed steel known for its high wear resistance and hardness retention at elevated temperatures. Used in cutting tools, punches, and dies.
AISI T1
Tungsten-based high-speed steel with excellent hot hardness. Ideal for tools, hardened gauges, and heavy-duty bearings.
AISI T15
A high-performance tool steel with added cobalt for enhanced hot hardness. Suitable for severe service environments.
AISI T5
Tool steel with high tungsten content offering a balance of hardness and toughness. Used in precision instruments and wear-resistant parts.
AISI S2
Shock-resistant tool steel designed for high impact resistance. Commonly used in impact tools, striking components, and rugged mechanical assemblies.
Manufacturing & Supply
We stock and supply ferrous alloy balls in standard and custom diameters from 0.5mm to 100mm, with various hardness levels and finishes. Balls are available heat-treated, annealed, or machined to order.

Applications of Ferrous Alloy Balls
Used extensively where strength, wear resistance, and economy matter:
- Bearings – Chrome and carbon steel balls are core components in bearing assemblies
- Automotive – Engine components, gear systems, steering mechanisms
- Power Tools – Impact-resistant tool steel balls for drills and rotary equipment
- Aerospace – Precision M2 and T15 balls in control systems and actuators
- Industrial – Durable rolling and load-bearing elements

Useful terms and definitions
Batch or Lot:
A defined quantity of balls manufactured under conditions presumed to be uniform and which is considered an entity.
Nominal Ball Diameter:
The diameter value that is used for the general identification of a ball size.
Single Ball Diameter:
The distance between two parallel planes tangential to the actual ball surface.
Diameter Tolerance per Batch:
The allowed difference between the smallest measured ball diameter and the largest ball diameter within the same batch or lot quantity.
Sphericity:
A measure of roundness expressed as the difference between the measured roundness of a ball and a theoretically perfectly round ball.
Surface Finish or Roughness:
A measure of the texture of a surface. It is quantified by the vertical deviations of the actual surface from its ideal form. If these deviations are large, the surface is rough; if they are small, the surface is smooth.
