PTFE Balls (Teflon® Balls)

Ball Bearing

Extreme Chemical Resistance & Non-Stick Surface

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) balls, also known by the trade name Teflon®, are high-performance plastic spheres renowned for their exceptional chemical resistance, low friction, and non-stick surface.

Supplied by Atlas Ball & Bearing, PTFE balls are ideal for corrosive, high-temperature, and hygienic environments — including medical, food processing, and chemical systems — where no other plastic can match their durability and inertness.

Why Choose PTFE Balls?

PTFE is unique among engineering plastics for its ability to withstand aggressive chemicals, operate across wide temperature ranges, and resist adhesion.
Its combination of low friction, non-reactivity, and stability makes it the material of choice for critical sealing, fluid handling, and insulation applications.

Key Benefits

  • Unmatched chemical resistance — inert to most acids, solvents, and bases
  • Wide operating temperature range (–200 °C to +260 °C)
  • Non-stick, low-friction surface
  • Non-toxic and food-grade compliant
  • Excellent electrical insulation
  • Low moisture absorption (<0.01%)
  • Self-lubricating and maintenance-free

Manufacturing & Supply

We are capable of manufacturing and supplying loose Teflon balls in nearly every variation of grade, maintaining an extensive stock with sizes ranging from 0.2mm to 150mm in diameter.

Applications

Because of its chemical inertness, low friction, and temperature resistance, PTFE balls are used across industries that require purity, non-contamination, and long-term stability.

Typical applications include:

  • Valves, seals, and chemical pumps

  • Medical and food processing equipment

  • High-purity laboratory systems

  • Electrical and thermal insulation components

  • Flow control and fluid sealing

  • Aerospace, semiconductor, and defence systems

PTFE balls are ideal wherever corrosion, friction, or temperature extremes prevent the use of other materials.

Why Atlas Ball & Bearing?

  • UK-based supplier of precision-engineered plastic and non-metallic balls

  • High-grade PTFE material for exceptional purity and consistency

  • Custom diameters and tolerances available upon request

  • Certified quality for food, medical, and industrial standards

Useful terms and definitions

Batch or Lot:

A defined quantity of balls manufactured under conditions presumed to be uniform and which is considered an entity.

Nominal Ball Diameter:

The diameter value that is used for the general identification of a ball size.

Single Ball Diameter:

The distance between two parallel planes tangential to the actual ball surface.

Diameter Tolerance per Batch:

The allowed difference between the smallest measured ball diameter and the largest ball diameter within the same batch or lot quantity.

Sphericity:

A measure of roundness expressed as the difference between the measured roundness of a ball and a theoretically perfectly round ball.

Surface Finish or Roughness:

A measure of the texture of a surface. It is quantified by the vertical deviations of the actual surface from its ideal form. If these deviations are large, the surface is rough; if they are small, the surface is smooth.
