AISI 430F Balls

Ball Bearing

Free-Machining Ferritic Stainless Steel

AISI 430F balls from Atlas Ball & Bearing are precision-engineered from free-machining ferritic stainless steel, offering good corrosion resistance, improved machinability, and reliable magnetic properties. These balls are ideal for applications where efficient production, consistent performance, and cost-effectiveness are key.

Manufactured from high-quality AISI 430F stainless steel, these balls contain added sulphur to enhance machinability, making them easier to produce to tight tolerances. They perform well in mildly corrosive environments and are commonly used in industrial and engineering applications.

Why Choose AISI 430F Balls?

AISI 430F is a free-machining variation of AISI 430 stainless steel, developed to provide improved machinability while maintaining good corrosion resistance and magnetic properties. The addition of sulphur allows for more efficient manufacturing, making it a cost-effective solution for high-volume production.

AISI 430F balls are well suited to applications where moderate corrosion resistance and precision manufacturing are required, without the need for higher alloy stainless steels.

Key Benefits

  • Good corrosion resistance in mild environments
  • Excellent machinability for precise manufacturing
  • Magnetic (ferromagnetic) properties
  • Cost-effective stainless steel option
  • Good strength and durability
  • Reliable dimensional accuracy
  • Suitable for high-volume production applications

Useful terms and definitions

Batch or Lot:

A defined quantity of balls manufactured under conditions presumed to be uniform and which is considered an entity.

Nominal Ball Diameter:

The diameter value that is used for the general identification of a ball size.

Single Ball Diameter:

The distance between two parallel planes tangential to the actual ball surface.

Diameter Tolerance per Batch:

The allowed difference between the smallest measured ball diameter and the largest ball diameter within the same batch or lot quantity.

Sphericity:

A measure of roundness expressed as the difference between the measured roundness of a ball and a theoretically perfectly round ball.

Surface Finish or Roughness:

A measure of the texture of a surface. It is quantified by the vertical deviations of the actual surface from its ideal form. If these deviations are large, the surface is rough; if they are small, the surface is smooth.
