LDPE Balls

Ball Bearing

Lightweight, Flexible, and Chemically Resistant

LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) balls from Atlas Ball & Bearing are lightweight, corrosion-resistant plastic spheres designed for applications where flexibility, chemical resistance, and low water absorption are essential.

With a lower density than HDPE, these balls are ideal for floatation systems, valves, flowmeters, and other low-load, non-structural applications where buoyancy and chemical stability are critical.

Why Choose LDPE Balls?

LDPE offers an excellent combination of chemical resistance, toughness, and flexibility.
It is less rigid than high-density polyethylene, making it suitable for applications requiring impact absorption or lightweight floating components.

Key Benefits

  • Very low density (excellent buoyancy)
  • Chemically resistant to most common acids, alkalis, and solvents
  • Good flexibility and impact resistance
  • Low moisture absorption for use in wet environments
  • Non-toxic, non-staining, and corrosion-resistant
  • Excellent electrical insulation properties
  • Economical alternative to rigid plastics or metals

Manufacturing & Supply

We are capable of manufacturing and supplying loose LDPE balls in nearly every variation of grade, maintaining an extensive stock with sizes ranging from 0.2mm to 150mm in diameter.

Applications

LDPE balls are chosen for their light weight, chemical inertness, and flexibility, making them perfect for industries that rely on non-metallic, corrosion-resistant components.

Typical applications include:

  • Floatation devices and level gauges

  • Flowmeters and chemical monitoring systems

  • Valves and pump components in non-corrosive systems

  • Buoyancy and laboratory equipment

  • Packaging and filtration devices

  • Spacers, plugs, and lightweight closures

Because of their buoyancy and stability, LDPE balls are particularly well-suited for fluid control and float applications where metal or heavier plastics would sink.

Why Atlas Ball & Bearing?

  • UK-based supplier of precision-engineered LDPE and thermoplastic balls

  • Low-density polyethylene materials sourced for strength and consistency

  • Custom diameters, tolerances, and grades available on request

  • Quality assurance and batch traceability on every order

  • Fast UK and international delivery

Useful terms and definitions

Batch or Lot:

A defined quantity of balls manufactured under conditions presumed to be uniform and which is considered an entity.

Nominal Ball Diameter:

The diameter value that is used for the general identification of a ball size.

Single Ball Diameter:

The distance between two parallel planes tangential to the actual ball surface.

Diameter Tolerance per Batch:

The allowed difference between the smallest measured ball diameter and the largest ball diameter within the same batch or lot quantity.

Sphericity:

A measure of roundness expressed as the difference between the measured roundness of a ball and a theoretically perfectly round ball.

Surface Finish or Roughness:

A measure of the texture of a surface. It is quantified by the vertical deviations of the actual surface from its ideal form. If these deviations are large, the surface is rough; if they are small, the surface is smooth.
